Going strong for 15-years, Reggae Night at the Hollywood Bowl is back this season with an impressive lineup.
To celebrate the 15th annual night of reggae at the Hollywood Bowl, producers have compiled a lineup that honors the great Jamaican talent throughout the history of the genre and in today’s present state. The headlining performer will be Grammy Award-winning roots-reggae star Burning Spear, while also featuring performances by Cocoa Tea and Etana.
Reggae Night at the Hollywood Bowl is a rare sight to behold in the reggae genre. It is difficult to find another venue or setting that hosts 17,500 fans to listen to reggae music. But, performing to that number will not seem impossible for Burning Spear.
In 2007, the United Nations asked Winston Rodney aka Burning Spear to perform in Kenya to a crowd of over 60,000 people. The call to perform was a testament not only to his reputation, but to a collective acknowledgment of the man’s ability to educate and inspire.
The crowd at the Hollywood Bowl during the annual summer concert schedule is far different than that in Kenya, but the love for powerful, uplifting music will remain true.
In past editions of Reggae Night at the Hollywood Bowl, the event has featured performances by Ziggy Marley, Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Inner Cirle, The Skatalites, Shaggy, Don Carlos, Sly & Robbie, Third World, Tarrus Riley and many more.
The 15th annual Reggae Night at the Hollywood Bowl will take place on June 26, 2016. Tickets are currently available for purchase, starting at $18 and range to $41 for promenade and terrace box seats.
